Terms of UseMatters organizes your life into lists (areas like Home, Work, or Reading) and pulls what matters today into the agenda. Add a task to a list, or drop it straight into today. On Mac you can pin several lists side by side as columns; on iPhone and iPad you move between them from the tab bar.
Each list can be viewed three ways from the List · Kanban · Brief control: a plain list, a Kanban board of the same tasks, or a Brief — an operating page with meetings, decisions, and working notes.
A rolling task is for things that should cycle rather than disappear — the fourteen dinners you rotate through, the books to read, push / pull / legs. Mark any task as rolling (it's per-task, so rolling and one-off items mix in the same list). When you complete a rolling task, it sinks to the bottom and the item it's been longest since rises to the top. Each one wears a days-since chip so you can see what's due to come back around.
Rolling and recurring are mutually exclusive — a task is one or the other. If a “mark as rolling” option looks disabled, the task already has a recurrence rule; clear that first.
Matters syncs through your own iCloud, so there's no account to set up. If your devices aren't matching up, check that:
Matters is offline-first, so the app keeps working without a signal and catches up when you're back online. Prefer to keep everything on one device? Turn Matters off in your iCloud app list and it runs purely locally.
Grant calendar access and your events appear interleaved with your tasks in the day, sorted by time. Calendar access is read-only — Matters shows your events but never changes them, and they're never uploaded anywhere.
Habits each keep their own page — current and best streak, a consistency grid, and a month calendar — and you can also check them off inline in the day alongside your tasks.
Matters starts with a 14-day free trial. After it, you can unlock the app with one of three options — the current price for each is shown in your local currency in the App Store:
New device, or reinstalled the app? Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases — your subscription or lifetime unlock comes back with your Apple ID.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside Matters. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Matters. On Mac: App Store → your name → Account Settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge; access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at Apple’s App Store refund page. We can't process App Store refunds ourselves, but email us and we'll point you to the right place.
Your data is yours and always portable. From the app you can export a full backup as JSON or export to CSV, and import a backup back in. To remove everything, delete any item in the app, or delete the app and clear Matters' data from your device's iCloud settings. Since we don't hold a copy on a server, there's nothing on our side to delete.
Found something off, or have an idea? Email hello@mattersplanner.com. For bugs, it helps to include your device and OS version, the app version (Settings → About), and the steps that led to the problem — the more specific, the faster the fix. Matters is shaped by the people who use it, so feature requests carry weight.
Write to hello@mattersplanner.com and a real person — the developer — will get back to you, usually within a day or two.
